Break Up Your Band

A blog about cataloguing and dissecting the best music of the 1990s (mostly).

John Frusciante is a writer/performer living in NYC. His writing about music and comedy has appeared on AmplifierMagazine.com, The Onion News Network, Cracked.com, etc. He can frequently be seen at the UCB Theatre, where he is the Artistic Associate. fIREHOSE - “Blaze”
Mr. Machinery Operator, 1993

Well now it’s going to be this kind of day. fIREHOSE (Mike Watt, Ed Crawford, George Hurley) released their fifth and last full-length studio album Mr. Machinery Operator, their second album w/Columbia Records, in 1993. While lacking the fluidity and punch of 1991’s Flyin’ The Flannel and serving up one of the clumsiest songs in the band’s catalogue in the form of “Herded Into Pools”, this swan song album gives us some memorable highlights like “Formal Introduction”, “Rocket Sled/Fuel Tank” and the ode to Watt’s musical philosophy “Disciples of the 3-Way”.

See fIREHOSE at Coachella if you have that kind of money you rich fuck.

And for shit’s sake do not confuse fIREHOSE with these ass-clowns. I’ve been hearing that shit since high school.
