Break Up Your Band

A blog about cataloguing and dissecting the best music of the 1990s (mostly).

John Frusciante is a writer/performer living in NYC. His writing about music and comedy has appeared on AmplifierMagazine.com, The Onion News Network, Cracked.com, etc. He can frequently be seen at the UCB Theatre, where he is the Artistic Associate. He has the same name as--but is not the same person as--the guitarist for the Red Hot Chili Peppers.

First Aid Kit - “Emmylou”

“I was frightened but I held back,
I need you now at long last.

No, I’m not asking much of you,
Just sing little darling, sing with me.”

This room I’m in suddenly got very dusty and there are things in my eyes and look away a minute thanks.

The Lion’s Roar is a fantastic album of supple folk songs and if you don’t listen to it as soon as possible frankly I don’t even know what I’m supposed to do with you.
